What does IT-R-004 mean? BT-38 (Seller post code) - Italian suppliers MUST provide the postal address post code - I fornitori italiani devono indicare il CAP di residenza.
Why did my invoice fail IT-R-004?
Italian suppliers must provide the postal address post code (BT-38, the CAP). This Peppol BIS 3.0 Italian country rule requires the seller's post code; in UBL BT-38 is cac:AccountingSupplierParty/cac:Party/cac:PostalAddress/cbc:PostalZone.

Common causes
- cbc:PostalZone missing from the Italian seller's PostalAddress
- CAP embedded in the street or city field instead of PostalZone
