About einvoicecheck

einvoicecheck is a developer-focused validation service for EU e-invoices: an HTTP API and rule catalogue that check Peppol BIS 3.0 / EN 16931 and e-SLOG 2.0 documents against the official rulesets, plus EU VAT numbers via VIES.

How are the rulesets sourced?

Validation rules come from the official published artefacts: the OpenPeppol BIS Billing 3.0 schematron releases (May and November each year) and the Slovenian e-SLOG 2.0 specification. Every rule set is version-pinned — you can pin a version with the ruleset query parameter, and the previous default stays pinnable for 12 months. Releases are tracked on the changelog (also as an Atom feed).

How is the documentation maintained?

Each of the rules in the catalogue has its own page with the official rule text; a growing share also carry plain-English explanations, common causes, and example fixes maintained by us. The official text is always the source of truth.
