Terms of Service
Document version 2026-07-16-v2 · effective 2026-07-16.
These Terms govern your use of the einvoicecheck.eu API and website (the “Service”), operated under the einvoicecheck.eu brand. By creating an account, clicking “I agree”, or using the Service you accept these Terms.
Eligibility (business customers only)
The service is offered to business and professional users only. By creating an account or subscribing you confirm that you act for business or professional purposes and are authorised to bind your organisation. If you are a consumer purchasing for personal use, do not use the paid service.
The Service
einvoicecheck validates structured e-invoices (e.g. Peppol BIS 3.0, e-SLOG 2.0) and proxies EU VAT number checks to the European Commission VIES service. Results are informational only — they are not a guarantee of acceptance by any tax authority, Peppol access point, or network. The Service does not provide legal, tax, or accounting advice.
Accounts and API keys
You must provide a valid email address, keep credentials confidential, and notify us promptly of unauthorised use. You are responsible for all activity under your API keys. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or threaten the Service.
Acceptable use
- Submit only invoice data you are authorised to process.
- Do not upload malware, unlawful content, or attempt to disrupt the Service.
- Do not circumvent quotas, rate limits, or authentication.
- Use
/v1/vatfor per-request VAT checks only — not bulk list processing (VIES conditions).
Plans, quotas, and fair use
Free and paid plans include monthly validation and VAT-check quotas and per-key rate limits published on /pricing. Test API keys do not consume live quota. We may change plan limits with reasonable notice; material reductions for paying customers take effect at the next renewal unless required sooner for abuse prevention.
Rule sets
Validation rule sets are updated on our published release cycle. Pin a version with the ruleset parameter if you need stability. We are not liable for changes in upstream rule sources.
Billing and subscriptions
Paid plans are sold through Lemon Squeezy, which acts as merchant of record for checkout, payment processing, and payment receipts. Their buyer terms apply to the payment transaction in addition to these Terms.
- Prices are in euros and exclude VAT. Lemon Squeezy is our merchant of record and calculates any VAT due at checkout based on your location and VAT ID. Plan prices are listed on /pricing.
- Subscriptions renew automatically each billing period (monthly or annual) until cancelled.
- Upgrades, downgrades, and cancellations are managed through the Lemon Squeezy customer portal linked from your dashboard, or by emailing support@einvoicecheck.eu.
- If payment fails, we may restrict paid features after a grace period while retrying payment.
See our Refund & cancellation policy for refund rules.
Cancellation
You may cancel renewal at any time via the customer portal. Cancellation stops future charges; access continues until the end of the current paid period, then reverts to the Free plan unless stated otherwise at checkout.
Intellectual property
We retain all rights in the Service, documentation, and rule catalogue pages. You receive a limited, non-exclusive licence to use the API for your internal business purposes while your account is in good standing. You retain all rights in data you submit.
Data processing
When you submit invoice XML, you typically act as data controller and we act as processor for that content in transit — see the Data Processing Agreement. Our Privacy Policy describes personal data we process for accounts and operations.
Disclaimers and liability
The Service is provided “as is” to the fullest extent permitted by law. We disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, our aggregate liability arising from the Service is limited to the fees you paid us for the Service in the twelve (12) months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or loss of profits, data, or business.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under mandatory law.
Indemnity
You will indemnify and hold us harmless against claims arising from your breach of these Terms, misuse of the Service, or submission of data without proper authority.
Changes
We may update these Terms. Material changes will be posted with a new version date; continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance. For paid subscribers, material adverse changes take effect at the next renewal where required by law.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Slovenia. Courts in Slovenia have exclusive jurisdiction for business users, subject to mandatory consumer protections where they apply.
